Wat Khanun (วัดขนุน - Pronounced: Wot Ka-noon)
Part of a cluster of mound sites in the vicinity of Wat Thap Yan, Wat Khanun is located just a short distance northwest of the moated wat. While, due to a lack of information, we're not listing each site individually for now, Wat Thanun appears from satellite images at least to be the most straightforward candidate when assigning a tentative Khmer origin.
The site consists of a rectangular tree-covered plot - some 30m x 40m - located within a rectangular section of field bordered by straight lines of vegetation. The site's orientation of 80 degrees is identical to that of the Thap Yan enclosure.
While the site is named on Google maps - and so presumably featured vestiges at a relatively recent period in its history - we're unaware what if any remain today. (Note, the location is listed as 'abandoned' wat and there are no actual monastery structures existent today.)
