Site Size & Condition: Medium Ruin Wat Chedi Ean (วัดเจดีย์เอน - Pronounced: Wot Jedee Ian)

One of the more extensive hilltop sites situated on the same axis as, and slightly southwest, of Wat Chedi Kao Yot on the prolongation of the small range of hills to the west of the ancient city site. A brick chedi sited on a square platform is preceded by a laterite hall with the entire complex constructed on a laterite base covering the artificially flattened summit. Sections of the underlying sandstone can also be discerned which at certain points form part of the actual temple structure and base.

While the chedi and chedi platform are built of brick a large number of laterite blocks can be seen in the foundations, lower courses and sections of terracing. Laterite steps connect the site to the adjacent Chedi Kao Yot while a second flight provides access from Highway 1201 to the south.

The temple orientation, underlying laterite terrace and widespread use, or reuse, of large laterite blocks, suggest the presence of a Khmer-period sanctuary.
